Only Six Days Left to Enroll for HealthCare.gov Coverage for 2025; Open Enrollment Ends Jan. 15, 2025

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announces record-breaking numbers

Raleigh, N.C. – The NC Navigator Consortium team is issuing a reminder that Jan. 15, 2025, is the last day of Open Enrollment for those enrolling in or updating their coverage on the Health Insurance MarketplaceⓇ at HealthCare.gov. Health Insurance Navigators still have appointments available to provide free help for consumers evaluating their options for high quality, affordable health insurance plans. Those who enroll before the Jan. 15 deadline will receive coverage starting Feb. 1, 2025. Free appointments for any consumer in North Carolina can be made by calling 1-855-733-3711 or scheduling online at ncnavigator.org

Nationally, enrollment numbers have increased year over year; CMS recently reported that a record 23.6 million consumers selected plan year 2025 coverage through the Marketplace since the start of the 2025 Marketplace Open Enrollment Period. This number includes 3.2 million new enrollees. The CMS 2025 Marketplace Open Enrollment Period Plan Selections by State report shows that North Carolina has registered 958,190 cumulative plan selections (including both new and returning consumers) for the 2025 Open Enrollment period thus far.

“This has been a great year for Open Enrollment for North Carolinians, many of whom are securing health coverage for as little as ten dollars a month due to Inflation Reduction Act subsidies that are still in place,” said Nicholas Riggs, director of the NC Navigator Consortium. “The biggest mistake consumers make is missing the deadline, so we encourage folks to make an appointment today.”

NC Navigator Consortium consumers often credit their Navigators with helping them save hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars on Marketplace policies and subsidies that they may not have been able to find on their own. Consumers appreciate that their Navigators show them all their options, and check to ensure their providers and prescriptions are covered on the plan they select.
